5 documented Punch endpoints, grouped into 5 request families — Article, Author and Headlines, plus 2 more.
8 request parameters are documented across those Punch endpoints, 8 of them required — the full input contract is public before you write any integration code.
5 of the 5 Punch endpoints ship a recorded example response, and 5 carry a documented response schema — you can code against the real JSON before the first request.
Punch endpoints document their error responses (400, 404, 429 and 503) alongside the success schema, so a block, a rate limit, or a missing record comes back as a typed error rather than silently empty data.
5 hosted MCP tools back the Punch endpoints, so an agent can call the same routes with the same parameters and the same JSON contract, with no custom glue.

Catálogo de endpoints
/punch/articleReturns a Punch article by canonical `url` (`https://punchng.com/<slug>/`): title, description, publication and update times, section, authors, image and the body `paragraphs`. Punch articles are free to read, so `paywalled` is never set. Video-led stories may have only a short text summary.
Herramienta MCP punch_article
/punch/authorReturns a Punch author's name and their most recent articles (the first archive page, about 30) from a canonical `url` (`https://punchng.com/author/<slug>/`). `total_pages` is the number of archive pages. Punch author pages have no biography, photo or social links, so none are returned. An unknown author returns not-found.
Herramienta MCP punch_author
/punch/headlinesReturns the current stories, about 30, from one Punch topic page. `section` is required and takes a topic slug such as `news`, `politics`, `business`, `sports`, `metro-plus` or `top-stories`; any other value is an invalid-parameter error. Each item has a title and article URL, plus summary, publication time and image URL when the page shows them.
Herramienta MCP punch_headlines
/punch/newsReturns the latest Punch stories from punchng.com: title, article URL, summary, author and publication time. Takes no parameters. Punch labels its times as UTC but publishes them in West Africa Time (UTC+1), and `published_at` is corrected for that one-hour skew.
Herramienta MCP punch_news
/punch/sectionsLists the Punch topic slugs that `punch-headlines` accepts, such as `news`, `politics`, `business` and `sports`. Each entry has a `slug`, a display `name` and the topic page `url`. The list covers top-level topics linked from Punch's navigation or active in the 90 days before 2026-09-25.

Cómo hacer scraping de Punch
Punch is a Nigerian national newspaper whose official RSS directory separates Metro Plus, Columns, Opinion, Politics, Business, Health, Interview, and other feeds. Editorial columns and opinion should be analyzed separately from straight reporting; the publisher also carries sponsored material and stories continued from print, so retain format and provenance when present. The sections endpoint represents the live-verified topic pages accepted by the headline operation—use its returned values rather than guessing a path from the publisher's RSS labels. The author endpoint is modest, returning a name and recent articles rather than a rich profile. A 2026-10-27 pull listed 36 slugs and showed that bylines and images swap between routes: section rows had images but no author, while the news route had authors but no images.
The sections route lists topic slugs such as news, politics, business, sports, metro-plus and top-stories. Other values are an invalid-parameter error.
A topic call returns about 30 current stories, each with title and article URL plus optional summary, author and time.
The news route notes that Punch labels its times as UTC but publishes them in West Africa time, so check offsets before joining with other feeds.
Punch articles are free to read, so paywalled is never set. The author route returns the name and the first archive page (about 30) with total_pages; Punch author pages have no biography.
business returned 32 stories from 2026-10-25 23:03 UTC to 2026-10-26 23:46 with summaries and images, but no author. The news route returned 30 stories from 2026-10-26 23:26 to 2026-10-27 00:48 with bylines and summaries, no images.
Slugs include columns, continuation-from-print, diaspora, editorial, education, entertainment and feature. continuation-from-print is named for print carry-overs, so check what it returns before mixing it with web-first slugs.
Agent Skills
Instala un agent skill de Crawlora y tu agente obtiene datos de Punch como JSON mediante la API documentada, sin escribir un scraper. Estos skills cubren Punch:
Researches public news from international, regional, business, technology, sports, science, and entertainment publishers through the Crawlora API —…
npx skills add github.com/Crawlora-org/crawlora-skills --skill news-media-researchPreguntas frecuentes
The route notes that Punch labels them UTC but publishes in West Africa time. Verify the offset before relying on them.
About 30.
No. It returns the name, the first archive page of about 30 articles and total_pages.
On 2026-10-27 the news route did and section routes did not; section rows had images and the news route did not.
