Datasets API endpoint
Searches the crawled public PitchBook investor (fund manager/firm) profile catalog stored in a search index. Discovered from PitchBook's public sitemap. Sort enum: `relevance`, `name_asc`, `portfolio_count_desc`, `recently_crawled_desc`. Billing: this search costs 1 credit per record returned, with a minimum of 2 (an empty result costs 2, a full page of 100 costs 100).

PitchBook gates most numeric figures and full lists behind a paid subscription; those come through as empty cells rather than being fabricated.
Query parameters:
q — full-text query over name and description (max 256 chars).status, investor_type, hq_country, hq_state, run_id — exact-match filters (max 128 chars).min_portfolio_count, min_exits_count — numeric filters.sort — one of relevance, name_asc, portfolio_count_desc, recently_crawled_desc. Defaults to relevance with q, otherwise recently_crawled_desc.page (default 1), page_size (default 20, max 100). page * page_size must be ≤ 10000.Each row carries a stable envelope (id, kind, name, description, source_url, crawled_at) plus investor-specific rollups (status, investor_type, portfolio_count, exits_count, investments_count, hq_country/hq_state/hq_city, website) extracted best-effort from the underlying profile — absent, never fabricated, when the source page doesn't have them. The raw overview, contact, tables and faqs blocks are also included. Returns {dataset, items[], page, page_size, total, sort}. An empty or not-yet-populated dataset returns an empty items list, not an error.
1 credit per record returned, minimum 2. A search that returns 20 records costs 20 credits, a full page of 100 costs 100, and an empty or one-record result costs 2. You are charged for what comes back, not for the page_size you ask for, but your balance must cover the requested page_size for the call to be accepted. The response header x-credit-cost shows what a call was charged.
