IndieWire article API

Returns public IndieWire article metadata (title, author(s), published/updated dates, section, lead image) and the body paragraphs an anonymous visitor sees, from a canonical article URL. Paywalled content is never bypassed; a gated story would return only its public portion.

How this endpoint behaves

Query parameter: url is a canonical HTTPS indiewire.com/<section>/[<sub-section>/]<slug>-<id>/ article URL under one of the top-level sections news, features, awards, criticism, craft-considerations, feature, film, or video. Gallery (/gallery/), list (/lists/), author and category pages are rejected. The endpoint returns public metadata (title, author(s), published/updated dates, section, and a lead image where available) and body paragraphs only.

Paywall behavior: the endpoint returns exactly what an anonymous visitor's page contains and never attempts to bypass a gate. In a 2026-09-24 sample across every top-level section the full body was public; if IndieWire gates a story, only its public portion is returned.
