The Straits Times API endpoint
Returns public The Straits Times article metadata and body paragraphs from a canonical article URL. A subscriber-only article returns only its publicly served teaser paragraphs with paywalled set to true.
/straitstimes/articleQuery parameter: url is a canonical HTTPS straitstimes.com article URL in the form /<section>/<slug> or /<section>/<subsection>/<slug>. Returns public metadata and body paragraphs.
The Straits Times gates some articles behind a subscription. When the requested article is one of those, paywalled is true and paragraphs contains only the short teaser the site itself serves publicly -- never a fabricated or silently-truncated "complete" body. paywalled is omitted for a fully public article.
Example response (free article):
{"code":200,"data":{"url":"https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/example-article-slug","title":"Example article","paragraphs":["Example public paragraph."]}}
Example response (subscriber-only article):
{"code":200,"data":{"url":"https://www.straitstimes.com/business/invest/example-subscriber-article-slug","title":"Example subscriber article","paywalled":true,"paragraphs":["Sign up for ST InvestMe and unlock full access to exclusive insights and financial literacy courses today.","Example public teaser paragraph."]}}
