On 2026-09-23 the technology section carried 7 live headlines, six of them AI-safety and AI-policy stories published within the same week, including a Google location-data fine that Ireland's regulator settled for $463 million. Most wire stories are bylined to The Associated Press rather than an individual ABC reporter, and articles expose both published_at and updated_at — the Google fine story was revised 44 minutes after it first went live. A second pull on 2026-10-27 re-checked the 8-slug section list and the cross-section feed.

2. Step 2

   Page us for 11 headlines

   /abcnews/headlines takes one of those section slugs and returns title, url, image_url, published_at, and an optional summary. The technology feed skews heavily toward AI-policy coverage right now.

3. Step 3

   Read bodies of roughly 13 paragraphs

   /abcnews/article returns authors, description, image_url, a paragraphs array, section, published_at, and updated_at. Wire stories are commonly bylined "The Associated Press" rather than a named ABC reporter.

   Look up a writer by profile URL

   /abcnews/author takes a canonical abcnews.com author URL and returns that reporter's profile and recent bylines — useful for the smaller share of stories with a named ABC News author rather than a wire byline.

   Read the 1,000-row news strip as a feed

   The cross-section news route returned 1000 stories from 2026-10-22 11:38 to 2026-10-30 05:06 UTC, a round number that looks like a cap, and each row has only title, url and published_at. The same popemobile story appears twice at the top, so de-duplicate by URL before counting.
