How this endpoint behaves

Returns games — teams, score, status, venue, and broadcast info — for a league on a date, from Yahoo Sports.

league=soccer selects Yahoo's combined root page. Its competition_id parameter mirrors the site's client-side dropdown over the preloaded games; discover exact IDs with yahoo-sports-soccer-scoreboard. Direct competition keys such as europa-league use their own scoreboard pages.

Query parameters:

• league: required enum. Allowed values: nfl, nba, wnba, mlb, nhl, college-football, college-basketball, college-womens-basketball, soccer, mls, premier-league, la-liga, serie-a, bundesliga, ligue-1, champions-league, nwsl, ligamx-apertura, ligamx-clausura, copa-america, club-world-cup, world-cup, concacaf-champions-cup, concacaf-gold-cup, concacaf-league, womens-world-cup, europa-league, euro-championship.
• date: optional. Date as YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to Yahoo Sports' current scoreboard date.
• season: optional. Yahoo season year for a direct soccer competition page; discover each page's current values from yahoo-sports-soccer-scoreboard.
• month: optional. Month number from 1 to 12; only available with league=soccer.
• competition_id: optional. Exact id from the competitions catalog returned by yahoo-sports-soccer-scoreboard; only available with league=soccer. It filters the returned preloaded games to that competition.

Notable response behavior:

• A valid date with no games returns an empty games array (not an error).
• away_score/home_score are null until the game starts.
• status is Yahoo's raw status code (e.g. PREGAME, INPROGRESS, FINAL); status_display is the human-readable label.
• Each game's slug is the identifier the game/boxscore endpoint expects.
• Soccer games include their upstream competition ID, name, URL, and league logo where Yahoo embeds them.
• The combined root response always includes the full current competition catalog. With competition_id, count and games reflect the selected source competition; a valid competition with no games on that date returns an empty array.
• Invalid league/date values return an invalid-parameter error before upstream IO.
