Managed execution
Every figure below is read from the live IGN endpoint catalog — 5 endpoints, 8 documented request parameters, and 5 published response schemas — the same catalog Docs and Playground run against.
5 documented IGN endpoints, grouped into 5 request families — Article, Author and Headlines, plus 2 more.
8 request parameters are documented across those IGN endpoints, 8 of them required — the full input contract is public before you write any integration code.
5 of the 5 IGN endpoints ship a recorded example response, and 5 carry a documented response schema — you can code against the real JSON before the first request.
IGN endpoints document their error responses (400, 404, 429 and 503) alongside the success schema, so a block, a rate limit, or a missing record comes back as a typed error rather than silently empty data.
5 hosted MCP tools back the IGN endpoints, so an agent can call the same routes with the same parameters and the same JSON contract, with no custom glue.

How to scrape IGN
IGN covers games and entertainment through distinct feeds for reviews, games, movies, TV, tech, Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile, and comics. Separate a platform feed from reviews or guides at discovery time: an Xbox or Nintendo watchlist answers a different question from a game’s editorial assessment. A 2026-10-27 pull listed 12 sections, each returning 20 stories, and showed that summaries are not guaranteed: 17 of 20 on news, 19 of 20 on nintendo and 15 of 20 on the news route. A second pull on 2026-10-27 re-checked the 12-slug section list and the cross-section feed.
The sections route lists news, reviews, games, movies, tv, tech, nintendo, playstation, xbox, pc, mobile and comics. Platform slugs give a console-specific feed.
Article calls take canonical https://www.ign.com/articles/<slug> URLs and return public article or review metadata and body paragraphs. Wiki, video and game, movie or TV hub pages return an invalid-parameter error.
Reviews are served through the same article route, so a reviews feed can be followed with article calls.
The author route takes a https://www.ign.com/person/<username> URL and returns username, name, job title, location, biography, headshot, social links and recent articles.
Every sampled IGN story had a byline and image, but summaries were missing on some rows. Treat the summary as optional and fall back to the article route for the lead.
The news section's 20 stories spanned about six hours on 2026-10-26 (17:58 to 23:57 UTC), while nintendo's 20 spanned 2026-10-20 to 2026-10-26.
IGN lists 12 slugs (news, reviews, games, movies, tv, tech, nintendo, playstation, xbox, pc, mobile, comics). On 2026-10-30 news returned 20 headlines with 13 in the strip, and reviews 20 from 2026-10-21 to 2026-10-29 with none in the strip.
The cross-section news route returned 20 stories from 2026-10-26 20:10 UTC to 2026-10-27 00:01 UTC, with bylines on 20 of 20, summaries on 15 of 20 and images on 20 of 20. It suits a quick freshness check; take full rows from a section feed.
