Managed execution
Every figure below is read from the live Raw Story endpoint catalog — 5 endpoints, 9 documented request parameters, and 5 published response schemas — the same catalog Docs and Playground run against.
5 documented Raw Story endpoints, grouped into 5 request families — Article, Author and Headlines, plus 2 more.
9 request parameters are documented across those Raw Story endpoints, 7 of them required — the full input contract is public before you write any integration code.
5 of the 5 Raw Story endpoints ship a recorded example response, and 5 carry a documented response schema — you can code against the real JSON before the first request.
Raw Story endpoints document their error responses (400, 404 and 503) alongside the success schema, so a block, a rate limit, or a missing record comes back as a typed error rather than silently empty data.
5 hosted MCP tools back the Raw Story endpoints, so an agent can call the same routes with the same parameters and the same JSON contract, with no custom glue.

Endpoint catalog
/rawstory/articleReturns a Raw Story article by canonical `url` on `rawstory.com`, for example `https://www.rawstory.com/trump-media-ban-2677933730/`: title, description, publication and update times, section, authors, image and body `paragraphs` (embedded videos excluded). `section` is omitted for slug-only URLs. Hub, tag and author URLs return an invalid-params error; a missing story returns not-found.
MCP tool rawstory_article
/rawstory/authorReturns a Raw Story author's profile, looked up by `slug` (for example `bennitokelty`) or canonical `url`; exactly one is required. The response has the name, `bio`, avatar, social links and the 15 most recent stories, each with title, URL and a `YYYY-MM-DD` date. Older stories are not reachable, and an unknown author returns not-found.
MCP tool rawstory_author
/rawstory/headlinesReturns the latest Raw Story stories, up to 30, for one section hub. `section` is required and takes one of 15 slugs such as `us-news`, `trump-news`, `world`, `commentary` or `supreme-court`. Each item has its title, URL, lead-paragraph summary, publication time, author and image when given. The dormant `presidential-campaign-issues` hub returns 9 stories.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 30 items, 6 fields filled in every item. published_at: 2026-10-13; url: rawstory.com.
MCP tool rawstory_headlines
/rawstory/newsReturns the 30 newest Raw Story stories across all sections. Takes no parameters. Each item has its title, story URL, a lead-paragraph summary capped at 500 characters, publication time, author byline and lead image.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 30 items, 6 fields filled in every item. published_at: 2026-10-13; url: rawstory.com.
MCP tool rawstory_news
/rawstory/sectionsLists the 15 section and topic hubs that `rawstory-headlines` accepts. Each entry has a `slug`, a display `name` such as `U.S. News` or `Raw Exclusives`, and the hub page `url`. Hubs overlap: `us-news`, `trump-news` and `smartnews` share most recent stories, and `presidential-campaign-issues` is dormant.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 15 items, 3 fields filled in every item. name: “U.S. News” and 14 other values; url: rawstory.com.

How to scrape Raw Story
Raw Story is a US progressive digital news and commentary outlet. Its Investigates hub and election coverage are distinct editorial lanes from media criticism and opinion; preserve the original hub before comparing a report with a commentary item. Several topic hubs can overlap in the same stories, so join feed results by canonical URL and do not count a cross-listed story as separate coverage. Use the live sections response as the supported inventory rather than treating every website topic page as an independent API feed; author profiles' recent-work lists are not a historical archive. On 2026-10-27 the sections route listed 15 slugs, including trump-news and raw-investigates, and each feed returned 30 stories with full fields.
The sections route lists 15 section and topic hubs, such as us-news, trump-news, world, commentary and supreme-court. Hubs overlap, so one story can appear in several.
A hub call and the news route return up to 30 stories; summaries are the lead paragraph, capped at 500 characters on the news route.
Article calls on a rawstory.com URL return title, description, publication and update times, section, authors, image and body paragraphs, with embedded videos excluded.
The author route takes a slug (for example bennitokelty) or a canonical URL, exactly one, and returns name, bio, avatar, social links and the 15 most recent stories.
us-news returned 30 stories from 2026-10-26 19:24 UTC to 2026-10-27 01:55, about six and a half hours, while commentary's 30 ran from 2026-10-17 to 2026-10-26.
Slugs include us-news, trump-news, world, enviro-science, all-video, raw-investigates, also-read and commentary. Every row had a byline, summary and image.
Agent skills
Install a Crawlora agent skill and your agent can pull Raw Story data as JSON through the documented API, without writing a scraper. These skills cover Raw Story:
Researches public news from international, regional, business, technology, sports, science, and entertainment publishers through the Crawlora API —…
npx skills add github.com/Crawlora-org/crawlora-skills --skill news-media-researchFAQ
The hubs overlap, for example us-news and trump-news, so deduplicate by canonical URL.
Up to 30 for a hub and 30 for the news route.
The 15 most recent.
30 per feed on 2026-10-27, covering about six hours for us-news and nine days for commentary.
