Fortune API endpoint
Returns rows from a selected Fortune ranking list and year -- the Fortune 500 franchise (including Fortune China 500) or one of Fortune's award/culture rankings. Search, filters, sorting, and pagination are applied against Fortune's public ranking data and validated against that list/year's filter inventory.
/fortune/rankingReturns public company rows for a selected Fortune ranking list and year. Most rankings use Fortune's JSON source; fortune-china-500 uses the public Fortune China HTML table. Its available years are 2026, 2025, 2024, and 2023, with 500 rows in each edition. The default year is that list's current year.
Query parameters:
list (optional): a slug from /fortune/ranking/lists (104 lists as of 2026-09-23: the Fortune 500 franchise, including fortune-china-500, plus Fortune's award/culture rankings such as best workplaces, most powerful people, and innovation lists). Defaults to fortune500. fortune500 currently exposes 2026 through 1996; other lists cover different year ranges -- call /fortune/ranking/years?list=... instead of hard-coding a year range.

Name is accepted as an alias for compatibility with Fortune's ranking page URLs. For fortune-china-500, search matches all displayed row columns, as the source page's global table search does.filter (optional, repeatable): field:value, using the exact field names and values returned by /fortune/ranking/filters?list=...&year=.... Multiple values for one field are ORed; different fields are ANDed. For example, filter=profitable:yes&filter=sector:Technology. Fortune China exposes company as a text field; use search for partial company-name matches.fortune500 list, including sector, industry, state, profitable, founder_is_ceo, female_ceo, growth_in_jobs, global_500, best_companies, worlds_most_admired_companies, change_the_world, fastest_growing_companies, future_50, gained_in_rank, gained_in_rank_full_1000, dropped_in_rank, and dropped_in_rank_full_1000. Boolean values true and false normalize to Fortune's yes and no values. Other lists use different field names for some of the same concepts (for example global500's industry field is fg500_industry, not f500_industry) -- pass the exact field name from /fortune/ranking/filters?list=... via filter=field:value for those.sort_by (optional): a live sortable-field title or normalized slug, such as rank, revenues, profits, market_value, or employees. For Fortune China 500, the sortable fields are Company, Rank, Rank of last year, Revenues ($M), and Profits ($M).sort_order (optional): asc or desc; defaults to asc.offset (optional): zero-based offset, default 0.limit (optional): page size, default 100, maximum 1000.The response includes the resolved list, the filtered total, the requested page of items, the applied filters, and the list/year-specific search_fields and sortable_fields metadata. Historical years and non-fortune500 lists have smaller or differently named filter sets; the discovery endpoint is authoritative for each list/year pair. Fortune China company URLs point to fortunechina.com company pages.
