What is open is substantial — a nested section tree spanning World, Markets, Companies, Tech, and seven other top-level groups, a rolling news feed, relevance- or date-sorted search, and public contributor byline pages that stay open even when the writer's own articles are gated. Crawlora's six FT endpoints read all of that as normalized JSON.
/ft/categories returns the FT's full nested section tree — eleven top-level groups such as World, Markets, and Tech, each with its own subsections; Markets alone splits into eleven, from Alphaville and Lex to Crypto and Wealth Management.
In a 2026-09-24 pull, /ft/news returned 293 stories spanning roughly the prior 48 hours, each with just a title, canonical URL, and publication time — no summaries at this level.
Pass a slug from /ft/categories, such as us-politics-policy, to /ft/headlines for that section's current cards with summary, publication time, and lead image. Some cards cross-posted from other sections arrive without a publication time.
A relevance-sorted /ft/search query for "AI safety" on 2026-09-24 returned 28 matches spanning six weeks, using the same card fields as headlines, with an optional date_range window.
/ft/article reads public article templates only — the same-day story above returned a subscription error instead of paragraphs. /ft/author still works for the same byline: it returned Martin Wolf's title, email, and two dozen recent pieces even though those pieces are themselves paywalled.
/ft/articleapiKey2 credits/requestReturns one public Financial Times article's metadata and body paragraphs from a canonical article URL. Subscriber-only articles that the FT serves as a subscription page are not available.
