Vanguard articles by byline API

Vanguard publishes no author profile pages, so this returns the recent articles in one public feed (site-wide by default, or one section) credited to a byline, matched on the on-page "By <Name>" line or the site's creator field.

How this endpoint behaves

Vanguard publishes no author profile pages (/author/<slug>/ redirects to the home page, checked 2026-09-25), so there is no bio, photo or social link to return. This endpoint instead lists the recent stories in one public feed credited to a byline.

Query parameters:

name (required): the byline to look for, 3 to 80 characters, matched case-insensitively as a substring of the on-page "By <Name>" line, or of the site's account name when the story has no such line, e.g. Chioma Obinna.
section (optional): scan that section's feed instead of the site-wide feed. One of national-news, top-stories, more-news, politics, business, business/energy, business/insurance-and-you, sports, entertainment, health, education-2, technology, innovation-2, aviation, agric, motoring, pension, foreign, editorial, opinion, columns, viewpoints, discourse, features, special-reports, thearts, cartoons, romance-an-relationships, homes-property, travel-and-tourism, style/allure/interviews, tribute, promoted, videos, top-podcasts, national-news/icymi, more, more/education, more/interview, more/labour, more/law-and-human-rights, more/metro. Any other value returns an invalid-params error.

Each call reads exactly one 20-item feed, so a byline only matches if the author has a story among those 20 items; scanned reports how many were checked. When nothing matches the endpoint returns a not-found error naming the feed, which means "not in this window", not "no such author". Each article has title, url, byline, published_at and summary.
