Managed execution
Every figure below is read from the live RTÉ endpoint catalog — 5 endpoints, 8 documented request parameters, and 5 published response schemas — the same catalog Docs and Playground run against.
5 documented RTÉ endpoints, grouped into 5 request families — Article, Author and Headlines, plus 2 more.
8 request parameters are documented across those RTÉ endpoints, 8 of them required — the full input contract is public before you write any integration code.
5 of the 5 RTÉ endpoints ship a recorded example response, and 5 carry a documented response schema — you can code against the real JSON before the first request.
RTÉ endpoints document their error responses (400, 404, 429 and 503) alongside the success schema, so a block, a rate limit, or a missing record comes back as a typed error rather than silently empty data.
5 hosted MCP tools back the RTÉ endpoints, so an agent can call the same routes with the same parameters and the same JSON contract, with no custom glue.

Endpoint catalog
/rte/articleReturns public RTÉ News article metadata and body paragraphs from a canonical rte.ie/news article URL. RTÉ News articles are free to read; paywalled is omitted.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 9 of 9 fields returned with a value. published_at: 2026-09-24; section: “Politics”.
MCP tool rte_article
/rte/authorReturns an RTÉ News author's profile by canonical `url` (`https://www.rte.ie/author/<id>-<slug>/`, the author link on an article byline): name, headshot, `role` and recent articles, each with title, URL, summary, publication time and image. `role` is the job title the page shows, for example Political Correspondent, and is omitted when there is none.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 10 items, 4 fields filled in every item. url: rte.ie; title: median 55 characters.
MCP tool rte_author
/rte/headlinesReturns the latest RTÉ News stories for one section. `section` is required and takes one of 29 slugs such as `ireland`, `world`, `politics`, `dublin`, `courts` or `nuacht` (Irish-language); others return a 400. Each item has its title, URL, summary, publication time and image. Small sections like `science` return only a handful of items.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 50 items, 5 fields filled in every item. published_at: 2026-10-10 to 2026-10-13; url: rte.ie.
MCP tool rte_headlines
/rte/newsReturns fresh RTÉ News top stories from its public news feed. Scope is RTÉ News (rte.ie/news) only, not the RTÉ Player, radio, sport or entertainment sections.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 57 items, 5 fields filled in every item. published_at: 2026-10-11 to 2026-10-13; url: rte.ie.
MCP tool rte_news
/rte/sectionsLists the 29 RTÉ News section hubs that `rte-headlines` accepts, such as `ireland`, `politics`, `dublin`, `ukraine` and `investigations-unit`. Each entry has a `slug`, a display `name` and the feed `url`. The list is curated to hubs with their own article feed, so narrower topic pages are not included.
Sampled 14 Oct 2026: 29 items, 3 fields filled in every item. name: “Ireland” and 28 other values; url: rte.ie.

How to scrape RTÉ
RTÉ is Ireland’s public-service broadcaster, and RTÉ News covers domestic policy, regional events, business and international affairs. The catalog’s news endpoint is deliberately scoped to rte.ie/news. It does not stand for everything RTÉ publishes across the Player, radio, sport or entertainment services. Use the news section inventory to distinguish Irish regional and national stories, and retain canonical article URLs for source checking. A 2026-10-27 pull listed 29 slugs and the news route returned 53 stories from the previous three days with summaries and images but no bylines. A second pull on 2026-10-27 re-checked the 29-slug section list and the cross-section feed.
The sections route lists 29 slugs, such as ireland, world, politics, dublin, courts, ukraine, investigations-unit and nuacht (Irish-language). Others return a 400.
Scope is RTÉ News (rte.ie/news) only, not the RTÉ Player, radio, sport or entertainment sections.
RTÉ News articles are free to read, so paywalled is omitted.
The author route takes https://www.rte.ie/author/<id>-<slug>/, the author link on an article byline, and returns name, headshot, role and recent articles.
ukraine returned 18 stories from 2026-10-17 to 2026-10-27, about ten days, with a summary and image on each. The news route returned 53 stories from 2026-10-24 05:00 UTC to 2026-10-27 01:05, 52 with summaries and all with images.
Feed rows carry no author, so open the article for the byline URL (https://www.rte.ie/author/<id>-<slug>/) and pass it to the author route.
RTÉ lists 29 slugs: topics (ireland, world, politics, business, middle-east, europe, uk, us) and regional ones (connacht, dublin, leinster, munster, ulster). On 2026-10-30 ireland returned 50 headlines and world 49, with summaries and images on every row but no bylines, and 16 and 18 of them were also in the 50-story strip.
The cross-section news route returned 53 stories from 2026-10-24 05:00 UTC to 2026-10-27 01:05 UTC, with bylines on none of 53, summaries on 52 of 53 and images on 53 of 53. Poll it for new items, then enrich them from a section feed.
Agent skills
Install a Crawlora agent skill and your agent can pull RTÉ data as JSON through the documented API, without writing a scraper. These skills cover RTÉ:
Researches public news from international, regional, business, technology, sports, science, and entertainment publishers through the Crawlora API —…
npx skills add github.com/Crawlora-org/crawlora-skills --skill news-media-researchFAQ
No. Scope is RTÉ News (rte.ie/news) only.
Yes. nuacht is among the 29 slugs.
https://www.rte.ie/author/<id>-<slug>/.
Not on 2026-10-27. Fetch the article, then use its author link with the author route.
